TUNER MUSTANG PUTS HELLCAT, Z06 AND CAMARO ZL1 ON NOTICE
It’s been an exciting few months for the American auto industry. First, we had the undeniably badass 505-hp Camaro Z/28, and then came the 707-hp Challenger Hellcat followed by the 650-hp Corvette Z06.
Texas tuner Hennessey wanted in on the action, and came up with the sinister HPE700 Mustang, based on Ford's new-for-2015 pony car. With its added supercharger, it makes 717 pavement-stomping horsepower.

Hennessey claims the Darth Vader Mustang will sprint to 60 mph 3.6 seconds, and cross the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds. That’s the same as the SRT Hellcat on its stock tires.

“We’re very excited about the 2015 Ford Mustang, and so are our performance-minded clients,” said John Hennessey. “Our HPE700 Supercharged upgrade will elevate this Motown Missile’s performance to rival some of the fastest European sports cars.”
The Roots-type blower delivers 7.25 psi of boost, leading to 632 lb-ft of torque to go along with the horsepower. Hennessey also installs a high-flow throttle body and stainless steel exhaust system. Upgraded injectors and fuel pump feed more gas into the 5.0-liter V8.

Hennessey says only 500 examples of the HPE700 Mustang will be built for the 2015 model year. It’ll cost $59,500, which puts it right in the neighborhood of the Hellcat, ZL1 and last-gen’s GT500. Hennessey also offers carbon fiber bodywork, 20-inch Hennessey wheels with Michelins and a Brembo brake package.
Hennessey says it’s also working on a package for the 2.3-liter EcoBoost Mustang; we’ll definetely be waiting for that.
