SORRY, NO PRICING OR OUTPUT INFORMATION AVAILABLE…YET
Mustang enthusiast forum mustang6g.com has done it again: a member has obtained ordering guides for the 5.2-liter V8-powered Shelby GT350 and GT350R, dated Jan. 13, 2015. Talk about fresh! (Too bad there’s no fordgt3g.com forum with similar proprietary information-finding abilities.)
You can view the full guides right here. There aren’t really any surprises: Adding to what we already know, the GT350R will get 19-by-11-inch front wheels and 19-by-11.5-inch rear wheels -- all carbon fiber -- standard. Selecting the R package also adds MagneRide, carbon ceramic brakes bracing while deleting the rear seat, air conditioner and more. Of course, you can add some of those creature comforts back in if you specify the electronics package -- but doesn’t that sort of defeat the point?
In addition to that 5.2-liter flat-plane crank-powered V8 motor, a six-speed Tremec manual transmission and a 3.73 axle ratio Torsen differential.
Sorry, guys: The order guide doesn’t include horsepower, torque, fuel economy (as if we care) or pricing. So we’re still going with that “at least 500 hp and 400 lb-ft” figures that Ford has been touting; until then, check out our coverage of the Shelby 350R from the floor of the Detroit auto show.
