MV-1 mobility van now available at over 100 dealerships

The only purpose-built wheelchair van on the market expands to 107 dealers in US

More than 100 dealers are now prepared to offer their customers MV-1 wheelchair-accessible vehicles, Mobility Ventures said in a statement today.

The MV-1 is the only American-manufactured vehicle completely purpose-built and designed for people who use wheelchairs. Mobility Ventures LLC, a unit of AM General LLC that designs and manufactures paratransit vehicles for public and private transportation, said the MV-1 is available in 107 U.S. dealerships. The MV-1 first became available in April.

"This is a very unique product, and it’s in a very underserved market,"; said John Walsh, Mobility Ventures vice president for sales and marketing.

Mobility Ventures LLC, the current builder of the MV-1, says it has now signed more than 50 dealers. The MV-1 is the only American-built vehicle designed from the ground up for people with mobility ...
The 107 is a leap from the 50 dealerships that we reported in February.

“This milestone is very important because it indicates significant progress in our commitment to provide a broad network of well-established dealers who can be depended upon to provide high quality MV-1 sales, service and support to individuals in wheelchairs, commercial fleets, institutions and municipalities,” Walsh said in a statement.

The company is on target with sales and distribution, Walsh said. The MV-1 is the only purpose-built vehicle that meets or exceeds the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the statement said.

Mobility Ventures has a distributor in Toronto, which has dealerships throughout Canada, and Dubai, which has dealerships across the Middle East and North Africa. The company plans to continue the expansion of its dealer network to include all major domestic and international market areas, the company said.

Vehicle Production Group LLC originally designed and built MV-1, but AM General bought the group last year and established Mobility Ventures.
